Frequently Asked Questions

What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the ONLY PERMANENT method of hair removal approved by the AMA (American Medical Association) and the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) Laser hair removal is listed only as hair reduction.

What is a Electrolysis treatment like?

A very fine probe is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle (you shouldn’t feel this at all!)

The licensed electrologist will select the best modality using chemical or heat energy or both combined. This modality is selected for each client based on the hair, skin, medical history and client comfort.

When the energy is released you will feel warmth which is the energy being generated inside the hair follicle under the skin. This lasts anywhere between 1/1000th of a second to several seconds depending on the modality selected to ensure permanent destruction of that hair follicle.

This energy coagulates the blood supply and destroys the region in the hair follicle that makes hair growth possible.

The hair then slides out without any resistance. You should never feel as if the hair is plucked or being tweezed.

Is Electrolysis Permanent ?

Yes, Electrolysis treatment coagulates the blood supply and destroys the region in the hair follicle that makes hair growth possible. Without these you can no longer grow hair in that follicle.

Can I get electrolysis for hair that grows where I have a tattoo?

Yes! The treatment occurs within a natural opening and under the skin as not to disturb your tattoo art!

How many treatments will I need?

In the beginning, you must have patience as the initial area is cleared and as the hair growth cycles. You will to begin to see the reduction of hair after the first few months. Once you get over that period of time you will begin to see less and less hair growth until eventually there will be no more.

The total treatment time varies from one guest to another based on area treated, depth and density of the hair in that area and your growth cycle. Past hair removal methods, hormones, stress and medication also play a role in hair growth and treatment. Depending on these factors the treatments may be 15 minutes to several hours. This will be discussed during your consultation. Regular appointments will guarantee that your total treatment time is not prolonged.

What area can be treated?

Almost all areas of the head face and body can be treated. The head and face includes the chin, upper lip, jawline, sideburns, hairline, nape, neck, and eyebrows. The body includes the breast, underarms, stomach, chest, back, bikini, legs, arms, hands, fingers, and toes. At the consultation we can discuss all areas to be treated and prioritize by order of most importance.
